When should my child first see a dentist?
Being proactive about their children’s health is a priority for most parents, which includes acclimating them to regular dental visits. Dr. Ratto welcomes children to the practice and typically recommends that your child begin regular dental appointments around the age of three years old, unless you have concerns about your child’s oral health early on. What is the oral systemic connection?
This is something that we discuss a lot at Progressive Health Dental, and we love to teach our patients about this important mouth/body relationship. The fact that your oral health affects every other system in your body is known as the oral systemic connection.
For example, studies are linking periodontal (gum) disease with other health concerns such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This is because the bacteria that occur in your mouth due to gum disease can travel to other areas in your body and contribute to progressing other serious health issues.
